Scholarship Winners

2016 Scholarship Recipient
In 2016 we received over 50 applications. In July in Sofia Bulgaria The 2i Foundation awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Veselin Nanov.


Veselin Nanov graduated from the American College in Sofia. Veselin received 790 on SAT writing and 730 on Math. He is also the founding President of North Shore Country Day School’s Foreign Policy Club. Veselin is pursuing a degree in Education and History at Dartmouth College.





2015 Scholarship Recipient
In 2015 we received over 40 applications. In July in Sofia Bulgaria The 2i Foundation awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Rahim Halimanski.

Rahim Halimanski graduated with honors from the Sofia High School of Mathematics. Rahim received a score of 760 SAT Subject Math and 780 on SAT Chemistry. He is also an accomplished juniors basketball player and has participated in the Bulgarian National Basketball Championship where his team, Levski, finished 4th in 2014.
Rahim is pursuing a bachelors degree in Chemistry at Yale University.


2014 Scholarship Recipients

In 2014 we awarded three scholarships to Maria Zlatkova, Katherine Krem, and Richard Mihaylov. The scholarship awards were presented on August 10, 2014 in Sofia by The 2i co-founder Ivo Kolev and 2013 scholarship recipient, Iva Gumnishka.



Maria Zlatkova
graduated with honors from the American College in Sofia. Maria received a score of 2270 on SAT and 800 on SAT Subject Math and 740 on Chemistry. She is also the winner of the National German Olympiad in 2012 and the recipient of the Daniel Martin Karcher Prize in English for best AP English student.

Maria is pursuing a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering at Harvard University.


Katherine Krem served as class President and graduated with a 6.0 GPA receiving a score of 2270 on SAT and 800 on SAT Subject Math and 740 on Biology. She is also the winner of over 40 national and international prizes in mathematics including first place and tournament winner at the 2011 International Mathematics Tournament in Moscow, Russia and a gold medalist at the 2008 Mathematics World Contest in Hong Kong.

Katherine is pursuing a degree in Bioengineering and Mathematics at Stanford University.

Richard Mihaylov graduated from the American College in Sofia and received a score of 800 on SAT Subject in Math and Physics. Richard served as team captain of the volleyball team and also received an award for outstanding contributions to the tennis program and an award for best midfielder on the football team.

Richard is pursuing a degree in Engineering at University of Cambridge, UK.



2013 Scholarship Recipients
In 2013 we received over 60 applications from which we identified 8 exceptional finalists and awarded two scholarships to Iva Gumnishka and Maggie Nazer. 


Iva Gumnishka graduated with a GPA of 6.0 from the Spanish High School of Sofia. Iva received a score of 2290 on SAT and 800 in SAT Subjects Spanish, French and World History. She received numerous awards on national and international Olympiads in Mathematical Linguistics and Spanish and has taken leadership positions with the local Rotary society.

Iva will be pursuing a bachelor degree in Economics and Political Science at Columbia University in New York.

Maggie Nazer graduated from the National High School for Ancient Languages and Culture in Sofia. She is the winner of numerous competitions in literature and management and has been an impressive leader in her community, taking a key role in a number of education and leadership events in Bulgaria and abroad.

Maggie will be pursuing a degree in Psychology in Middlebury College in Vermont, USA. 


2012 Scholarship Recipients

In 2012 we received over 50 applications from which we identified 10 exceptional finalists who received certificates for academic achievements. We awarded three scholarships to Alexander Kamberov, Mira Nencheva and Iveta Stoyanova.



Alexander Kamberov graduated with a GPA of 4.27 (out of 4.00) and IB diploma from the Anglo-American School of Sofia. Alex received a score of 2210 on SAT and 800 in SAT Subjects Spanish and Math II. He received numerous international awards for his accomplishments in the Model UN (including the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Diplomacy) and has taken leadership positions with the local Rotary society.

Alex will be attending Harvard University in Fall 2012.

Mira Nencheva graduated from the National High School of Mathematics and Science in Sofia. She is the winner of numerous National Competitions in Biology and has received a Silver Medal in the 22nd International Biology Olympiad in Taiwan. Mira scored 2160 on the SAT and 800 in SAT Subjects in Biology and Math II.

Mira will be pursuing a bachelor degree in Biology at Stanford University.

Iveta Stoyanova was a valedictorian and class president at the Second English Language School in Sofia and received a bachelors degree in International Relations from Sofia University. She is currently finishing her Law studies in Sofia University.

In the fall Iveta will be pursuing a MSc in Politics and Government at the London School of Economics, United Kingdom



2011 Scholarship Recipients

In June and August of 2011 we conducted two rounds of interviews in Sofia, Bulgaria. From a pool of over 50 exceptional finalists we selected three recipients for our 2011 scholarships.

Kalina Kourdova graduated with a GPA of 5.96 (out of 6.00) from the American College of Sofia, one of the most selective high schools in Bulgaria. Kalina received a score of 740 on SAT Chemistry as well as a score of 780 in Math. She is also a recipient of the Hedy King Robinson Prize for Theory of Music.
 
Kalina is currently pursuing a bachelors degree at Vassar College, United States.



Radko Kotev graduated from the National High School of Mathematics and Science in Sofia. He is the winner of the Bulgarian National Competition in Mathematics and Informatics for 2008. In 2011, Radko received first place award in the Euro game at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

Radko is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics and Computing Science at University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.



Radoslav Dimitrov graduated from the German English Language School in Sofia with a perfect GPA(6.00/6.00). Radoslav scored 800 on SAT Math as well as 750 in Writing, 800 in German, and 780 in World History.

Radoslav is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Economics at University of Mannheim, Germany.





2010 Scholarship Recipients

                

Maria Tsvetkova 
graduated from the American College of Sofia. She is pursuing a bachelors degree in Architecture at Cornell University in the United States.

Georgia Shumanova graduated from the First English Language School in Sofia. She is pursuing a bachelors degree in Economics and German at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
